Previous projects:
Soundwaves – Working in partnership with Take Art, a handful of settings in Dorset and Somerset to upskill practitioners in music delivery. Settings received fortnightly sessions with an Early Years Music Pracitioner, and an emerging music practitioner, to learn about how to play musically with children, set up musical provocations and learn new songs and rhymes.
Musical Play Groups – Funded by Dorset Council’s Early Years team, this 6 week programme took place in 12 venues across Dorset. Aimed at supporting the recovery of babies born during the COVID pandemic, it supported parental confidence in enjoying and using music with their child to stregthen their development in the Prime Areas of Learning. Over the course of 6 weeks, families were treated to a range of musical experiences which encouraged socialistation, engagement and musical interaction based on the SALT music approach. This project was kick started through a training session by the Magic Acorns team that supported 6 Early Years music practitioners to develop their practice in musical play.
Early Years music conference – In 2021 we hosted our first Early Years music conference for early years practitioners. This virtual conference featured a key note speech from Nicola Burke based on “What is creativity and what does it mean to be musical?” followed by a sereies of workshops from local, regional and national experts.
B Sharp – Partners B Sharp provided a three week training project for Early Years practitioner based on “what does a musically rich setting look, feel and sound like?”
