Entries open for the inaugural Bryanston String Competition

The inaugural Bryanston String Competition in partnership with Trinity Laban Conservatoire is taking place at Bryanston on Sunday 23 March 2025.

  • Classes for all ages and standards
  • Amazing prizes including the Trinity Laban String Award and the opportunity to play a solo with a professional orchestra
  • Adjudicator: Nic Pendlebury (Head of Strings, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London)

Deadline for entries is Friday 31 January 2025.

Overview of classes – open to violinists, violists, cellists, double bassists and harpists

Elementary – grade 2           £7.50               4 mins max.  One or two pieces of elementary standard i.e. Grade 1 or 2.  Prize: £10 voucher

Grades 3 – 4                          £7.50               5 mins max.  One or two pieces of Grade 3 or 4 standard.  Prize: £10 voucher

Grades 5 – 6                          £10                  8 mins max.  One or two pieces of grade 5 or 6 standard.  Prize: £15 voucher

Grades 7 – 8                          £10                  10 mins max.  One or two pieces of grade 7 or 8 standard.  Prize: £15 voucher

Trinity Laban String Award £12.50             15 mins max.  Two or three pieces of contrasting style and period of advanced standard ie above grade 8. We strongly recommend you bring your own accompanist.  The prize for this class will include the opportunity to experience a bespoke day as a student at Trinity Laban.  In addition, Bryanston is also offering the opportunity for the winner of this award to play a solo with a professional orchestra. Monetary award: £50 voucher
